VLAP water testing with the SLIA team

VLAP Water Testing

The Silver Lake Improvement Association (SLIA), with major efforts from President, Sharon O’Neil, Treasurer, Eric McIntyre, and Mike O’Neil has been part of the New Hampshire Volunteer Lake Assessment Program (VLAP) since 2022. The Flint Pond Improvement Association was kind enough to provide initial hands-on training for Sharon and Eric, followed by additional instruction by the State. SLIA has just started to add members, such as Mike O’Neil, SLIA Secretary, and others. Additionally, as an auxiliary wing to VLAP, the State conducts a tributary monitoring program to examine the flow rates of the three incoming streams, along with the accompanying nutrients.

Eric and Sharon originally borrowed the equipment from the Concord, NH office. Eventually, they decided to go all in and use funds they raised to purchase the equipment for $1,000. Now, on occasion, you may observe Eric, Sharon, and other volunteers out on the Lake on Eric’s pontoon boat monitoring water quality.
